The Calgary Flames (3-0-2) host the Nashville Predators (5-0-1) on Friday evening at the Scotiabank Arena.
Before Friday’s game against the Predators, the Flames were also in action against the Boston Bruins on home-ice on Wednesday evening where they won 5-2.
Prior to that, the Flames previous game was a 3-2 OT win at the Colorado Avalanche on Saturday in which they showed great character in recovering from a 2-0 deficit inside three minutes, with the score then remaining the same until the midway point of the match. Goaltender David Rittich saved 24 of the 26 shots that he faced in the winning effort.
Statistically, the Flames have been averaging 3.60 Goals per Game, which is 8th best in the standings, while allowing a Goals per Game rate of 3.20 goals per game which is the 13th highest.
Numerous hockey predictions had the Predators as serious Stanley Cup contenders this season, and with five wins from their opening six games, they are living up to expectations. However, that solitary loss to date was on home-ice against the Flames, when they went down to a 3-0 defeat.
Since then the Predators have recorded three consecutive wins in games at the Bridgestone Arena, the latest being a 4-2 victory over the Minnesota Wild on Monday evening.
At present, the Predators have a Goals per Game average of 3.17 (16th in the NHL overall), while only allowing 2.00 Goals per Game (the 30th highest in the rankings).
Wednesday’s game against the in-form Bruins will have an impact on the Flames, particularly given that the Predators have had a couple of days of extra rest. The Predators will be out to avenge that loss to the Flames and they are our tips to do just that.
