Bryan “Bam Bam” Barberena (14-6-0) takes on Randy “Rude Boy” Brown (10-3-0) in a Welterweight fight at the Bon Secours Wellness Arena in Greenville, South Carolina on Saturday night.
The 30 year-old American comes into this UFC match-up on the back of a KO loss to the Brazilian Vicente Luque in February. It was a brutal fight with Luque (see video below) and “Bam Bam” was only stopped with six seconds left in the fight a barrage of knees and punches. It was the first knockout Barberena has suffered in the UFC promotion and how he has recovered from that bout will obviously be a key factor against Randy Brown.
The 28 year-old Jamaican Randy Brown last fought almost a year ago when he lost by knockout to Niko Price of the USA.
Brown is 3 inches taller than Barberena and has a considerable reach advantage, but Barberena has considerable experience and is a durable fighter who is capable of taking a lot of punishment in addition to dishing it out. If Brown can use his physical advantage to control the distance between the two fighters, he has every chance.
Barberena has produced 10 KOs in his 14 wins to date and that would appear to be the most likely way he will secure the victory on this occasion. Where Brown could have the advantage is if the fight comes down to grappling.
Bryan Barberena vs Randy Brown Betting Lines & Pick
Looking at the UFC odds and predictions here, Bryan Barberena is the favourite going into this fight and, particularly with Randy Brown coming into this fight after a long lay-off, he looks justified in being so at odds of -270 with Sports Interaction.
It certainly wouldn’t be a seismic shock were “Rude Boy” to win though and for those who envisage a minor upset, the UFC betting line on Randy Brown is set at +225 with bet365.
