Brazil will meet Peru in the Final of the 2019 Copa America at the Estádio Jornalista Mário Filho (a.k.a. Maracanã) in Rio de Janeiro on Sunday afternoon.
Host nation Brazil booked their place in the final with a controversial 2-0 win over arch-rivals Argentina on Tuesday evening, with goals from Gabriel Jesus and Roberto Firmino.
First-half goals from Edison Flores and Yoshimar Yotun, along with Paolo Guerrero’s stoppage-time strike gave Peru a convincing win over the two-time defending champions, Chile, in the second semi-final. Prior to that the Peruvians had caused another upset in beating Uruguay on penalties after a goalless draw.
The pressure is all on Brazil to lift the trophy in their own backyard, with Peru being a relatively inexperienced team who last reached the Copa America Final 44 years ago.
