A massive soccer game at the top of the German Bundesliga on Saturday (5.30pm kick-off local time) which sees second-placed Bayern Munich host title rivals and league leaders Borussia Dortmund at the Allianz Arena in this crucial ‘Der Klassiker’ match-up.
Bayern dropped points last weekend with a 1-1 draw away at Freiburg ending their 5-game winning streak and with just 9 games left to go Dortmund are now two points ahead of the defending champions, so this is a real ‘6-pointer’.
An away win for Dortmund would open up a five point gap and give them real hope of winning their first Bundesliga title since 2012 whereas a win for Bayern would see them leapfrog Dortmund to go back top. It looks set to go all the way this season.
When these two teams met last October it was Dortmund who emerged victorious with a thrilling 3-2 win on their home turf but it’s been Bayern that have won all three games they’ve played prior to that by a combined score of 13-2.
Saturday’s match will be the 100th time they have met in the Bundesliga and on the overall head to head records Bayern have won 45 times to Dortmund’s 25.
Bayern Munich v Borussia Dortmund Lines
Bayern Munich are the bookies favourites to take all three points here with the betting line set at -187.50 with Betway Sports. Dortmund are the underdogs and can be backed at +480 with William Hill. The Draw option is set at +375 with bet365.
In terms of our betting predictions, the feeling is that Dortmund have been over-performing this season under their enigmatic Swiss coach Lucien Favre and with Bayern Munich holding the home turf advantage, we fancy them to get the job done and take all three points.
