Australia will play the Czech Republic on Wednesday night (local time) at the Shanghai Oriental Sports Center in the final quarter final tie at the FIBA Basketball World Cup. The winners of this game will face Spain on Friday in Beijing for a place in the final.

Australia has a 100% record from their five games in China, although they’ve had several close calls already. They beat the Dominican Republic 82-76 in the second round group stage last Friday and France 100-98 on Sunday.

However, they should still be full of self-belief after their pre-World Cup warm-up win over the USA, when they inflicted a first loss in 13 years on the USA, with a 98-94 victory in Melbourne to end the American’s 78-game winning streak.

The Czech Republic are the surprise package of the World Cup to date, with their only defeats coming in their opening group game when going down 88-67 to the USA and their last game in the second round to Greece (84-77).

The Czechs progressed to the last eight after finishing in a three-way tie with Greece and Brazil, but having the best point differential.
