Bianca Andreescu Bio

At just 19, Bianca Andreescu is already developing into a real superstar on the women’s tennis circuit. She started playing tennis at just the age of seven and by 11 was playing and training as part of Canada’s national training programme.

She was a successful junior and in 2014 won Les Petits As, one of the biggest junior tournaments on the planet.

Many more junior titles followed, and in 2016 she won her first professional title, picking up the Gatineau 25K tournament in Canada. She beat Elizabeth Halbauer in straight sets and also won a doubles title in the very same tournament.

Her WTA debut came in 2017, reaching her first final on the tour as a double in the Coupe Banque Nationale and by 2018 was building a reputation as one of the best young players around.

2019 has certainly been a breakthrough year, beating Caroline Wozniacki and Venus Williams in the ASB Classic, where she reached the Final.

She won her first WTA 125K singles title in January at Newport Beach and passed Eugenie Bouchard in the rankings to become the country’s top ranked player.

At Indian Wells, as a wildcard, she won her first WTA tour title, defeating Angelique Kerber, taking her to 24 in the rankings.

She then claimed the Rogers Cup on home soil and reached her first Grand Slam Final at the US Open, beating Serena Williams in straight sets to well and truly introduce herself on the world stage.

It was a remarkable performance as she because the first person born in the 2000s to win a Grand Slam, as well as the first woman to win the US Open in her debut appearance in the competition.

Her incredible performances has put her into the top 10 rankings, peaking at number four in October.
